Thank you to the bands, volunteers, RefugePDX, and our fans for a great festival!
PDX Pop Now! is taking our show on the road to inspire the next generation of Portland musicians. On March 18th, several local non-profits and musicians will arrive at H.B. Lee Middle School to give students hands on experience with instruments, lyric writing, looping, and more! Ethos Music Center, My Voice Music, Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls, Tom Filepp of Cars & Trains, Christine Jigau, and Film Action Oregon are all jumping right in to the classroom for some interactive musical fun with Portland’s youth. These programs are free for the school and very important because music classes are being cut from educational curriculum.
And of course we’re bringing a taste of Portland’s vibrant music scene along. Watching live music is an experience that shouldn’t be saved for those 21+, so we’re setting up a concert at school. Local bands Tope, The Ascetic Junkies, and AAN are going to be rocking a packed gym! They might even be the first live bands these students will see, and that is what PDX Pop Now! is all about.
