Our Mission
Featuring more than forty bands chosen by local musicians and fans, the second annual PDX Pop Now! festival will showcase the astonishing breath and depth of Portland's local music scene. With Loveland generously donating its space for two days and three nights worth of shows from Aug 5 through Aug 7, PDX Pop Now! is a local music event meant for EVERYONE. No matter what age you are, or what type of music you listen to, our goal is to provide you one place to catch some of Portland's finest, in a safe and fun atmosphere. Who knows? Maybe next year, you'll start your own music festival! As the national music press glows over Portland's diverse and experimental music community, we've decided to celebrate here at home. Who are we? A group of local musicians, writers, and fans from the PDX-POP mailing list who've coalesced around the idea of organizing a free local music festival. Our mission? Celebrate the achievements of bands who've achieved "success" - while promoting the no-less talented but often lesser-known bands around town.

About Us: Team PDX Pop Now!

Portland popsters, Thank you again for such a wonderful experience at the 2004 PDX-Pop Now! Festival. More than forty local bands lit up the Meow Meow over three days in July, showcasing the astonishing breadth and depth of the local music scene in Portland, Oregon. The inaugural PDX-Pop NOW! CD compilation garnered attention beyond our wildest expectations and has generated nationwide interest in Portland music. We laughed...we cried...but mostly, we were blown away by the incredible talent and creativity that we're surrounded by in this city.

In that spirit, we're pleased to announce...

Who are we?

We're a group of local musicians, writers, and fans from the PDX-POP mailing list who've coalesced around the idea of organizing a free local music festival. Our mission is to celebrate not only the bands who've achieved "success", but also the amazing lesser-known bands around town. PDX-Pop Now! is a local music event meant for everyone. No matter what age you are, or what type of music you listen to, our goal is to provide you one place to catch some of Portland's finest, in a safe and fun atmosphere.

PDX-Pop Now! is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting music made in Portland, Oregon. Through efforts like the PDX-Pop Now! Music Festival and the PDX-Pop Now! compilation CDs, we strive to expand Portland's music audience, and to enhance the sense of unity and purpose within our community. We hope you enjoy our events and join us in our celebration of local music. The nation has turned its ear towards Portland, and we hope to help our diverse musical community make a loud roar!
